Presentation: Rarely does one come across a princess as down-to-Earth as Anna of Arendelle, but she's the honest goods. Raised without much of the pomp and circumstance that normally comes along with being raised as royalty, Anna spent most of her time growing up alone, wandering the castle that was perpetually empty thanks to the closed gates. As such, she's fiercely independent and willing to take matters into her own hands. Take, for example, her sister Elsa's escape from Arendelle following her outburst. Instead of seeking help or even asking others to help her, Anna doesn't hesitate in asking for her horse and riding off to find Elsa herself. While this may not have been the wisest decision, it was what she believed was right, and Anna refused to leave such an important task to anyone else. This showcases perfectly her rather headstrong disposition. She's stubborn and she follows her heart, even if it means ending up in a snowdrift or two.

On a more lighthearted note, Anna is bubbly, quirky, and has a good sense of humor that probably arose from spending so much time amusing herself with little company as a kid. She's energetic, shown riding her bike around the castle, running and jumping and acting not-quite-ladylike. Though she's sweet, she also is unsure of herself, and has a bad habit of causing trouble not only for herself, but for others, too. Arendelle lives in a state of half-amused fear at the havoc her shenanigans often wreak. She's also very awkward, resulting in a lot of "wait, what?" moments, but she also can move past awkward moments quickly without being outwardly self-conscious about it. As a cover for a whole lot of underlying insecurity, she's relentlessly optimistic, and sometimes that gets in the way of being able to correctly identify the correct course of action or assess the situation.

Motivations: Anna is a very passionate person. She throws herself into everything a hundred percent, even if that's a hundred percent wrong. See: getting engaged to a man she met that day. It isn't the smartest decision, but Anna only wanted to be noticed and loved by someone. She was ready to do anything if it meant receiving positive attention. After being isolated from her older sister for most of her life and losing her parents at age thirteen made her lose her common sense somewhat when it comes to other people, though after the debacle with Hans and her reuinion with Elsa, she seems to regain that to some extent. Above all, she's motivated by a need for love, whether it be romantic, platonic, or ultimately, sisterly.

What isn't readily apparent to most is that the princess is very insecure, constantly feeling like she's done something to deserve the emotional pain she's experienced. She even asks Elsa at one point, "What did I ever do to you?" Even though none of it was her doing, it's clear that she somehow feels at fault for her sister's isolation. On the other hand, Anna is shown to be incredibly loyal, and is motivated by her desire to save the day, to make things right, especially when she feels at fault. In a deleted scene, Anna chases a pig through the marketplace and wreaks havoc, but apologizes profusely to the villagers of Arendelle and promises that she'll make things right and replace everything she destroyed in the wake of her chase. She wants to be liked more than she needs to be respected, and above all she needs to be noticed.

Setting: As someone who has faced a bit of strife in her young life, Anna is no stranger to trying situations, but the fact of being taken to Panem and put into the Arena will be a whole other problem for her. Though she's jumped in front of a sword for her sister Elsa, she's never been forced to fight for her life, and she'll be suitably horrified not only by the carnage, but by the fact that this is all for sport, for the peoples' entertainment. It's likely that she'll be outspoken about this injustice until either warning or direct action is brought against her as punishment for questioning the Capitol and all that the Hunger Games stand for. Eventually, she'll likely become desensitized to all the violence and carnage and focus solely on the survival of herself and her loved ones.

SAMPLES
First Person Thread:

[Waking is startling.

Not surprising after the way she'd fallen; tumbling to her death from a clifftop, the jeering face of her fellow tribute etched into her mind until she hit solid ground below--neck snapping, bones breaking, and an instant death. It's like the worst falling dream, only the fall actually happened, and you wake up not in your bed with your heart racing, but in a cold, strange room feeling nauseous and sick.

Anna sits bolt upright, feeling for her neck, her ribs, her legs; they're all fine, she's fine, somehow she's alive, and none of it makes sense.]

H-- [Her voice cracks, and she licks her lips and tries again.] Hello..? Ah--

[A voice is sounding over the speakers, and Anna's gaze settles on the recorder. Fine, then.] Um. I feel...cold, mostly. Really scared. They--they pushed me off a cliff, and I've never been more scared.

[Feeling self-conscious, she clears her throat.] I'm scared now, too. I don't want to die again. Please, please don't make me die again. Don't put me back in there.

[A string of graphic images flashes through her mind; watching between the trees as a girl is stabbed to death, watching a larger boy rip one of the weaker tributes' arm out of its socket. Things the sheltered princess could never have imagined witnessing. And the worst part is, they're real. Her own memories.]

I can't watch it all happen again.

Prose:

'Bewildered' didn't begin to cover the state Anna was in when her time came and she was shoved into the strange, cavernous room. All alone, with the shadowy figures above watching her every move, she tried her hardest not to look as cowardly and scared as she was. Face steadily turning from pink to freckle-dotted red, Anna turned slowly, examining the variety of weaponry placed around the room.

"This is stupid," Anna found herself muttering, before turning to shout up at the glass-walled balcony above. "This is stupid! Just so you know!" Whirling, she stalked around the perimeter of the room. A desire not to look stupid and weak would have her pick up a weapon, any kind of weapon, and attempt to use it, no matter how disastrous the results. But an understanding of her own limitations, and the fact that a gawky, sheltered teenaged princess does not a skilled warrior make had her re-evaluating the best course of action. Finally, after much muttering, her gaze landed on a mannequin standing in the center of the room. She raised her voice so as to be a bit more audible.

"Fine. You want a show, I'll give you a show." She launched herself at the mannequin, and in a move that was starting to become shockingly familiar, pulled back her right arm and delivered a solid right hook, landing on the dummy's blank face and resulting in the thing's neck coming loose, dangling from its neck socket. It was satisfying to punch something, perhaps even more satisfying than punching a certain prince off a ship. Anna turned once more, gave her spectators a defiant look, and stalked off toward the door. She was done with this stupid charade.

What is your character scored: I would place Anna at a 4. Physically, she's slight and gangly, though she is deceptively strong for her build (see: punching Hans hard enough to launch him over the side of a ship, throwing a snowball with enough accuracy and force to send a giant, enchanted snowman into a rage). However, she lacks coordination in most everything she does, and has no powers or special skills to speak of. Her saving grace is her personality; she's lovable enough to become a crowd favorite, should she so desire.
