□ Name: Princess Anna of Arendelle
□ Journal: rediscover
□ Series: Frozen
□ Canon point: post-"For the First Time in Forever" reprise ("Let's go kiss Hans!")
□ History: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Anna
□ Personality: Rarely does one come across a princess as down-to-Earth as Anna of Arendelle, but she's the honest goods. Raised without much of the pomp and circumstance that normally comes along with being raised as royalty, Anna spent most of her time growing up alone, wandering the castle that was perpetually empty thanks to the closed gates. As such, she's fiercely independent and willing to take matters into her own hands. Take, for example, her sister Elsa's escape from Arendelle following her outburst. Instead of seeking help or even asking others to help her, Anna doesn't hesitate in asking for her horse and riding off to find Elsa herself. While this may not have been the wisest decision, it was what she believed was right, and Anna refused to leave such an important task to anyone else. This showcases perfectly her rather headstrong disposition. She's stubborn and she follows her heart, even if it means ending up in a snowdrift or two.
Anna is a very passionate person. She throws herself into everything a hundred percent, even if that's a hundred percent wrong. See: getting engaged to a man she met that day. It isn't the smartest decision, but Anna only wanted to be noticed and loved by someone. She was ready to do anything if it meant receiving positive attention. After being isolated from her older sister for most of her life and losing her parents at age thirteen made her lose her common sense somewhat when it comes to other people, though after the debacle with Hans and her reuinion with Elsa, she seems to regain that to some extent. Above all, she's motivated by a need for love, whether it be romantic, platonic, or ultimately, sisterly.
On a more lighthearted note, Anna is bubbly, quirky, and has a good sense of humor that probably arose from spending so much time amusing herself with little company as a kid. She's energetic, shown riding her bike around the castle, running and jumping and acting not-quite-ladylike. Though she's sweet, she also is unsure of herself, and has a bad habit of causing trouble not only for herself, but for others, too. Arendelle lives in a state of half-amused fear at the havoc her shenanigans often wreak. She's also very awkward, resulting in a lot of "wait, what?" moments, but she also can move past awkward moments quickly without being outwardly self-conscious about it. As a cover for a whole lot of underlying insecurity, she's relentlessly optimistic, and sometimes that gets in the way of being able to correctly identify the correct course of action or assess the situation.
What isn't readily apparent to most is that the princess is very insecure, constantly feeling like she's done something to deserve the emotional pain she's experienced. She even asks Elsa at one point, "What did I ever do to you?" Even though none of it was her doing, it's clear that she somehow feels at fault for her sister's isolation. On the other hand, Anna is shown to be incredibly loyal, and is motivated by her desire to save the day, to make things right, especially when she feels at fault. In a deleted scene, Anna chases a pig through the marketplace and wreaks havoc, but apologizes profusely to the villagers of Arendelle and promises that she'll make things right and replace everything she destroyed in the wake of her chase. She wants to be liked more than she needs to be respected, and above all she needs to be noticed.
□ Age: 18
□ Gender: Female
□ Appearance: Anna is a slim, sprightly girl, middling in height and with animated features. Her hair is somewhere between strawberry blonde and red, reaching to the middle of her back with short bangs in the front. It has a tendency toward messiness, meaning she normally keeps it braided into two plaits, or else pulled back into a braided bun to keep it out of her face. A streak of pure white hair runs through it on the left side, near the crown, which is not naturally occurring, but a side effect of being struck by her sister Elsa's ice magic when she was very small. Anna has a round face with a button nose, soft cheeks and a small, pointed chin, and a healthy dusting of freckles that appear across her nose and cheeks, as well as her arms, chest, and various other places on her body. Her skin is pale, but with a healthy flush in her cheeks--peaches and cream, if you will. She has wide blue eyes fringed with thick lashes, and slim, expressive eyebrows.
□ Abilities/Powers: Aside from surprising strength for someone her size, Anna has no special powers or abilities.
□ Personal Items: The only personal items Anna will be arriving with are the winter clothes on her back, plus her Coronation dress, cloak, and shoes in her bag.
□ First Person Sample:
[Anna's not exactly technology-savvy, but she's been given enough of a run-down on this whole network deal that she can figure it out, for the most part. Apparently, all she needs is to think something--to wish it into existence--and it'll be sent out into. Well. Into the great beyond. She's trying not to think too hard about the other-peoples'-minds thing. But she also wants to...well, make herself known. Pray that there's someone out there who's sympathetic. She needs a friendly face more than anything right now. So she finds a mirror, and for a moment when her transmission starts she's just staring determinedly at her own reflection. Willing herself to be brave. To believe that the strange, fuzzy weirdness in her head is just disorientation. That she's still herself. Then her expression clears, and she gives the mirror a shaky smile.]
H-hi. Hi? It's--if you're watching this, I guess, hello! I'm Anna.
[She averts her gaze for a moment, feeling self-conscious about talking to her own reflection. She's always been a bit awkward and gawky, but this takes it to a whole new level. She tucks a stray piece of hair behind her ear, daring to glance up again.]
I'm...new, haha, in case that wasn't obvious--I mean, it's totally obvious, right? Silly me. [Wait. You're rambling, Anna, slow down. She takes a deep breath.] But I just wanted to, well, say hi. And that if anyone is here that I know--Elsa? Kristoff? Anyone. Come and find me. 'Cause, well, I could use a friendly face right about now. [She presses her lips together. Guess she should wrap this up. Anna lifts her hand and gives an awkward little finger wave.] Bye for now, I suppose!
□ Third Person Sample: (taken from the Games)
'Bewildered' didn't begin to cover the state Anna was in when her time came and she was shoved into the strange, cavernous room. All alone, with the shadowy figures above watching her every move, she tried her hardest not to look as cowardly and scared as she was. Face steadily turning from pink to freckle-dotted red, Anna turned slowly, examining the variety of weaponry placed around the room.
"This is stupid," Anna found herself muttering, before turning to shout up at the glass-walled balcony above. "This is stupid! Just so you know!" Whirling, she stalked around the perimeter of the room. A desire not to look stupid and weak would have her pick up a weapon, any kind of weapon, and attempt to use it, no matter how disastrous the results. But an understanding of her own limitations, and the fact that a gawky, sheltered teenaged princess does not a skilled warrior make had her re-evaluating the best course of action. Finally, after much muttering, her gaze landed on a mannequin standing in the center of the room. She raised her voice so as to be a bit more audible.
"Fine. You want a show, I'll give you a show." She launched herself at the mannequin, and in a move that was starting to become shockingly familiar, pulled back her right arm and delivered a solid right hook, landing on the dummy's blank face and resulting in the thing's neck coming loose, dangling from its neck socket. It was satisfying to punch something, perhaps even more satisfying than punching a certain prince off a ship. Anna turned once more, gave her spectators a defiant look, and stalked off toward the door. She was done with this stupid charade.
