[And he might send someone to do a well-check on her after all if he does not hear from her again. Or simply make a round near the Café and Apothecary to see if he could spot her within.]

[The sudden and intense shift in the daily life of the monster population has stretched as far as Solsikke. Time tables were changed, chores had to be rearranged. Being one of the two denizens of Solsikke that couldn't venture outside in the daytime was already getting to Cass. But it wasn't without some perks.

Just as the sun sank behind the hills, and the night starts came out, a knock comes to Anna's door. Hopefully not just as she's preparing for bed. Because Cassandra is there, fully dressed, wings folded neatly against her back.]

Have a long day?

[Luckily for Cass, Anna has transformed into a crepuscular monster, which means dusk and dawn are the best times of the day to find her and not suffer the risk of her deciding that Right Now is Naptime. So when the door to Anna's room flings wide, she's fully dressed in shorts and a tank top, ears tilted forward in excitement.]

Hmm? Oh, kind of. I did a lot of running...hunted a couple of rabbits...took a nap in the woods, that was fun! And then I came back here and took another nap, and then I lost about an hour chasing a piece of ribbon around the kitchen, and then I took another nap. And now I'm here!

[Good heavens, that means Eugene is alone in the mornings, unless he's really insistent on his beauty sleep.

Of all the people in the castle, Anna seemed to be taking her new changes the best. Cass was a little jealous, but she wouldn't complain. She knew what it was like to have fur, and wings. Anna pulled both off nicely.]

Uh huh. [She nods slowly while listening to Anna's rushed monologue.] Naps in the woods, am I right? And ribbon, wow.

[Jerks a clawed thumb at her wings to move this forward.]

I was just planning on heading out for a early-night flight. And... it's fun when you're flying with someone else, so I was just wondering...

[Honestly, this entire experience was a thousand times better than her Nymph changes had been. Anna takes well to being a cat; she's energetic, curious, and playful. It more than made up for the pain of growing wings and a tail.]

Yes, exactly!

[She detects...no sarcasm or insincerity on Cass's part.]

Oh! Oh, really, you mean it? [Without meaning to or really being able to control it, Anna's hummingbird-like wings begin to beat so quickly she lifts off the ground for a moment.]

But...I've never flown before. Is it hard?

[At least Anna is feeling that way. Cass enjoyed being able to fly, but Werebears were simple; she changed during the night, grew stronger and faster, and remained normal in the day. No fire hazards, or need to remain indoors all day.]

You bet. No better time than now for a flight.

[She'll let the sarcasm slide just because Anna looks so excited, she might lift off already.]

Eh, it's not that hard. And something tells me you'd take to it instantly. [Not just the fact that Anna embodies Rapunzel's spirit in so many ways.] What do you say?

[Cass makes a good point; the evening air will be nice and cool, something Anna is treasuring immensely now that she's covered in fur. She laughs, and immediately starts braiding her hair to get it out of her face.]

What can I say? Except...

[Quick as a flash, Anna is darting past Cassandra and up the spiral staircase that leads to the tower.]

Beat you to the roof!

[The twilight hours between sunset and dusk were golden in Cass's opinion. The earliest possible time that Cass could catch a glimpse of the sun before it dipped behind the curtain of mountain ranges on the horizon. With less people out, but the city still active enough, it was perfect for a gargoyle.

And Anna seemed to like it too. Cassandra barely has time to step out of her way as the manticore princess scampers up the stairs and out of sight. If she closed her eyes and imagined... it was just like home.]

Hey! It's not fair if you get a head start!

[Not quite as quickly, Cass is following her, wings pressed flat to her back to avoid the stone walls. Like it or not, Anna's definitely getting there first.]

Better catch up, then!!

[Those hummingbird wings and her long, agile cat-body make Anna uncannily fast as she bounds up the stairs three at a time, using her claws for traction, tail whipping around every corner.

Before long, she's reached the top of the tower and has thrown open the wooden shutters covering the big, open window. She's not even out of breath, it's ridiculous. She's just too excited to get out into the sky!]

[Cassandra laughs, and it echoes up the stairs, all the way to the top of the tower. Unfortunately, it reaches Anna before Cass does, and the gargoyle still makes good time, coming up just as Anna's flung the shutters open. Watching her, feeling the wind on her face, it pulls up some powerful memories.]

Okay. [Let her breath, just for a sec. She's fine, really.] So, as much fun as it sounds, let's not throw ourselves out a window. Yet.

[Luckily, it seems like Anna has no intention of actually flinging herself from the window—at least not without Cass next to her and a few words of advice. Still, she hangs from the window, held back only by her hands on the stone sill and her toe-beans curled around the lip. It's...kind of a thing she's always done, even back home in Arendelle when she was still a squishy human. Just to feel the wind on her face and the thrill of all that empty space below her.]

About time you showed up, [she teases, but there's no venom in it.] How do we start?

[Well, half the castle had been forced to live through their dreams, and the dreams of others, and upon waking up had to learn that their lizard friends returned to live with their titanic mother that sprouted out of the earth to rampage and cause havoc. It's been a long week.

Some took it harder than others. And Cass knew Anna was feeling the sting of losing a pet she cared about... even if it was a monster spawn that inflated her hand to a painful size.

Cass also knew it was Anna's birthday. (She wrote it down in her calendar after last year, to be sure). Some quick preparations over the next few days, and she found herself, once more, outside the queen's room.

She knocks with her foot, due to the box nestled in her arms.]

Anna? You up?

[Too bad one of them's still working on nocturnal hours.]

[It's Anna's birthday, and all in all she's had a pleasant day, especially given the fact that she's sad about her father and her sister, she's turning back into a nymph, and her pet lizard ran away while they were gone. But hey, cake and ice cream!

(Anna's having kind of a crappy birthday.)

In all honesty, she's about to give up on the book she's been flipping through for the past hour when someone knocks at her door. Anna recognizes the voice and the corner of her mouth lifts despite herself.]

You may enter!

[Yeah, the things they saw, or said, in the dreams could be put on hold for a moment. Cassandra didn't have to think about running from her dad in one place, or running from her mom in the other. Ahahaa.

Hahhaaaa.... ha.

Well, okay. Just. Give her. A minute. To get this door open. She does, without dropping the box even, and pushes her way in.]

I come bearing a gift for the birthday girl.

[It's not really wrapped, but it's got a lid! And a few air holes, strategically not facing Anna.]

[Anna sets her book aside, secretly a little grateful for the distraction, and despite everything her face lights up at the sight of a box. A box could hold so many things...and Anna has always been curious. She bounces up and down on the edge of the bed.]

Aww, Cass, you shouldn't have! [there's...a pause. And then she holds both arms out and grabs toward the box.] Gimme!

[Such a curious nature.... it's cute. That same look had alighted Rapunzel's face time and again, and Elsa's too.

She waits for Anna to approach, and for that pause to end before she finally... carefully, relinquishes the box, and leaves it in Anna's arms.]

Careful, it's fragile. [And shifting a bit?] I knew you've been upset about Gidget these last few days, so I thought I'd go out and try to make it up to you.

[Opening the lid will in turn reveal this little guy! curled up in a soft blankie and slowly blinking at the change in light.]

Fragile...?

[Anna trails off when she realizes that not only is the box wiggling in her arms, it's deceptively heavy—and her eyes grow wide.]

Cass, what did you—

[She doesn't get to finish the question, because Anna lifts the lid and her gaze latches on to the adorable little goblin-cat inside, and she gasps loudly, before scooping the kitten up into her arms, the box dropping to the ground.]

Oh my gods, i-is this really for me? Oh my goodness, you are so cute!

[To nobody's surprise at all, Anna latched onto this kitten immediately and isn't letting go anytime soon. The cat looks momentarily perturbed, but within moments its eyes are falling shut and it begins purring loudly. Anna is...well, Anna's crying. She wails:]

Cass!

[For just a moment, Cass was worried at the sound of Anna's gasp that maybe she made a poor judgement in her gift. Then, Anna's scooped the kitten into her arms, and she's cuddling it, and it's cuddling her and. Ah. Well. Anna's crying.]

Yup. He's all for you.

[She's already reaching into a pocket for a tissue. Here you go, Anna.]

He doesn't have a name yet. I thought you'd probably like to come up with one yourself.

[It's a good thing that these are definitely happy tears! And they're drying soon enough, anyway. Anna's already got a whole list of names running through her head, but all she can think is that the kitten looks like a little, naked goblin. She takes the tissue, dabs at her face, and then shoves it in her pocket before lifting the kitten up and letting him perch on her shoulder—which he allows and seems to like even better.]

I think...I'm going to call him Nisser. [There's a soft note of an accent, when she says it.] It's the word we use for goblins! And he's like a little wrinkly baby goblin, so I think it fits.

"Nisser." [She repeats without the note of accent. Comes across a bit differently.] Well, he does sorta look a wrinkly little goblin. But in a cute way. I think it's perfect.

[She watches the little guy perch on her, softly, and slowly pat-patting his paws against her shoulder.

This feels good.]

Happy birthday, Anna.

[Anna's birthday has turned all the way around in a matter of a few minutes, and she's suddenly immensely grateful to have Cass as a friend. She smiles, steadies the kitten on her shoulder with a hand, and moves in to wrap the other arm around Cass in a quick hug.]

Thank you, Cass, you're the best. Seriously.
