I am sure you have noticed my absence over the last few days. I am sending this from my computer at the shop as a notice of advisory. The Fog and Fourth have gone off on each other and set claim on various places around the peninsula. I cannot say for sure where on the map exactly. I advise you to be careful if you leave the castle.

As for me, my advice is to avoid seeking me out as I have been unwell due to the heaviness of the Fog and Her calling for me to aid Her. If that is what She wants, I will do it. The effects of the Fog and the Fourth's influences are making me unstable. For your safety, please, please only communicate with me via these messages. [It's a bit of a slow day at the cafe, and for once, Elsa is thankful for it. As tough as it can be, dealing with so many people at once, Elsa likes waiting on them. It's helping her slowly ease up that tight knot of anxiety in her gut that flares up whenever she's in a crowd.

But today! Today she has A Plan. A plan that involves her wandering into the back area where Anna is hard at work (after making sure there are no customers that need her attention of course) and watching her sister work for a few minutes before she speaks up.]

Anna? Do you have a minute?

[When Elsa comes into the back kitchen, she'll see Anna hard at work; the best thing about being a nymph is having two extra hands in the form of her vines, which means she can ice a cake and pipe out macarons all at the same time, while humming cheerfully to herself. The sound of her sister's voice snaps her out of it, and she turns to glance over her shoulder, grinning.]

For you, I have several! What's up?

[Anna's typing has been getting better over the weeks, but she still doesn't 100% have the hang of it. Her fingers are too fidgety to be careful about capital letters.]

[Anna had wondered just the other day if Elsa was going to throw her a party, and the answer is... well. No. Part of Elsa has been agonizing over this, especially when she'd accidentally heard Anna's thoughts the other day; sure, she'd gone a little overboard with Anna's last birthday in Arendelle, but that had only gotten out of hand because she'd gotten sick. She could do something big again, she had to do something big, Anna deserved so much and was denied this for so long...

But maybe... maybe something more personal was okay. What was important was showing how much she loves Anna, and to give her something she'll remember. So that means cooking up some foods from home to the best of her ability; smoked salmon and cod, Kjøttboller meatballs with potatoes, and fish soup. Elsa is by no means on the level of skill as Arendelle's chefs, but the food is decent enough, and if the way her leaves seem to be curling from the steam and heat of the kitchen, she worked pretty hard on the whole setup.

When the meal is eaten and they're left with just slices of chocolate cake (she'd wanted to make Krumkake, but it didn't seem like any of the stores in Bavan sold the iron she needed to make it) Elsa doesn't immediately dig into hers, instead just looking a bit nervous.]

[Anna wasn't joking when she told Elsa she was just fine without a big party. The truth is, she is worried about Elsa overextending herself again, and especially with everything else going on around them...Anna's more than happy to keep it low-key today. No choirs of village children, no massive cake, and definitely no snowgies causing mischief. No, Anna's more than happy to tuck into a big meal of her favorite from home; she swoons over the kjøttboller, has seconds of the fish soup because she's pretty sure if she eats enough of it, she'll truly feel like she's back home. It's wonderful, and by the end of the meal, Anna's little baby vines are waving contentedly around her shoulders without her even realizing it. She grins at Elsa, licking chocolate frosting off her fork.]

It was wonderful. Honestly. It's been so nice, Elsa, just...having a day with you. And this amazing meal! I can't believe you made this all yourself!

[Over the last few days, it's been exceedingly obvious that Cassandra was keeping to herself more and more. Staying away in her room ever since Rapunzel, and everyone else that had suddenly popped into the world, vanished. Truth be told, it had been rough. There's no real way to deal with the sensation of someone you care and protected vanishing in your arms like someone had flipped a switch. So she stayed in there, coming out only on occasion for food or other things.

....Then something happened. Hard to say what, but this morning, Cassandra is actually... out of her bedroom, making breakfast even. She's not happy quite yet, but she's definitely moving back to her sarcastic, well-meaning self. again.

And she hasn't spoken to Anna in some time too. Elsa had her turn, but now it fell upon Cass to hunt Anna down in the castle, and when she does find her...]

Hey... Do you have time to talk? Just real quickly?

[Might not be quickly, and she is definitely a little nervous.]

[Anna's sitting cross-legged in front of the hearth when Cassandra finds her, wearing a pair of denim shorts and a flowy top. Lately she's been enjoying trying out some different clothes, things that would never have been an option back home. She looks up from her book, and when she sees Cassandra, she sets it aside, grinning.]

Of course! I have all the time in the world. Dorothy and Toto can wait a little longer, after all...what's up?

[So... a lot of stuff's happened lately. A lot of new information was dropped on poor Anna's head, and while some of it was harmless, some of it is also... stuff that's hard to process. Like the still-healing scars on both sisters, courtesy of a zombified Lorna. A girl who Anna just found out she was married to at some point.

But there'd been something Elsa had been meaning to talk to Anna about for a while. Something that almost came up after their confrontation with Lorna, but with everything else turning into a flurry of panic and worry, it just. Wasn't the time. But maybe now, with everything calming down as much as it could in this land, is a good time to bring it up again.

So today, after dinner and after the residents of Solsikke begin getting ready to turn in for the night, Elsa knocks on her sister's door.]

Anna? Can I come in?

[Anna's already snuggled up in bed, not asleep, but reading. As has become normal for her, the places where her legs and feet are relaxed atop the duvet have begun to camouflage themselves to look like a mass of flowers and vines. She supposes it's some kind of protective instinct, but even when she's asleep in her own bed it's a pretty neat thing her nymph body has learned to do.

At the sound of Elsa's knock, Anna smiles and shuts the heavy book across her lap, setting it aside.]

Of course! Come on in, Els.

[As the months pass, so do the seasons. The days get shorter, and the weather gets colder, and Elsa can already feel herself begin to tire more easily. It's not a bone-deep sort of tired, like when she'd overexert herself trying to contain her magic back home, or the weariness that comes with all the heavy things Ryslig piles on top of the poor monsters trapped here... no, it's more just. A drowsiness that's hard to shake. The desire to stay inside more and more, in the warmth of the castle or the cafe, rather than outside in the chill that Elsa's still surprised she can feel.

Having toughed out the previous winter, Elsa knows by now that it's just some strange side-effect of her new form. Plants don't do very well in extreme cold, and since she's more plant than person now... that explains her lethargy, right? Right! But she'd been the only one here in the castle through those harsh months last year... now she has Anna. Anna the nymph who hasn't experienced this sort of feeling yet.

So, being the good sister Elsa is trying her best to be again, she's been doing preparations; the first of which is gathering some of the extra blankets from her room and a few of the spare rooms, and carrying them over to Anna's. Shuffling the pile in her arms, she manages to free one of her hand enough so that she can knock on her sister's door.]

Anna? Are you there?

[It certainly seems like Elsa's thinking along the right lines, because even though Anna's felt some darn cold conditions in her life, especially in the past couple of years, it's nothing compared to this. Even though there's a fireplace in her bedroom that's big enough to sleep in, Anna hasn't lit a fire, because she's terrified she'll catch herself aflame. So instead, when Elsa knocks, she'll hear a muffled "c'min!" because her sister has chosen to bury herself under the covers at the very foot of her bed, with the pillows all piled atop her for extra warmth.]

[The past few days have been... rough. Rough in ways Elsa has never experienced before. She was used to the anxious knot in her chest that kept her away more nights than she cared to admit, or the nightmares that hounded her when she was allowed to rest. But now she jumped at every loud slam of a door, every creak of the house settling or the windows rattling... she was a mess, more or less, and it was really beginning to frustrate her.

What frustrated her more, though, was her inability to help Anna. There's only so much she can do to bandage her sister's wounds and run to her room when she hears her having a nightmare... but as much as she wants to, she can't fight off those terrible thoughts before they even reach her sister. She just... has to hold her in the aftermath. And that at least, is something she can work to be better on.

That's why, as the fires are stoked one last time within the castle while the residents prepare for bed, Elsa doesn't drift off to her own room for long; she stops in just for a moment to grab one of her slightly older, worn blankets from her closet, before heading off to Anna's room.]

Anna? Can I come in?

[She doesn't knock, too worried about spooking her sister to try, but thankfully the doors aren't too thick that they'd muffle her voice.]

[Anna's been coping. That's really the only word for it, and even then it might be something of a stretch. She's not been sleeping much, she's been throwing herself into distractions as much as possible even while her body grows more and more ragged from injury and exhaustion. In the corner of her room is a large canvas with paint scrawled across it haphazardly; it seems Anna was trying to take a cue from Rapunzel and paint out her feelings, but instead of a happy, sunny mural it came out in blues and greys and blacks. It's not pretty, or nice to look at, but that isn't really the point of it. When Anna answers, her voice is high and thin and tired.]

Uh-huh! Come in!

[She's trying so hard, it's obvious, to be her normal self for Elsa. To smile and pretend she's fine so her sister doesn't have to worry. She can at least do that much, right?]

11/29; action

[Things have... improved, somewhat, in castle Solsikke. Just a week earlier, Cassandra was in a state of constant pain, wandering through her day, struggling to focus on more than keeping the castle secure and tending to her wounds. She tried to put her heart into it, despite not currently having one. And that always meant she was a bit more sluggish, less responsive than she'd have liked to be.

Days of soreness and anxiety, separated by restless nights, finally gave way. As the fog rolled in, as it often did, something miraculous happened. A beat returned to Cassandra's chest. Her heart had... returned? And not just that, but her teeth, as well. Though, the same couldn't be said for her right hand, it was.... progress. Nice progress.

With her heart returned, a new energy overtook Cassandra, hand or no hand. The color in her face was back, and a string of thoughts ran through her mind- plans she'd forgotten about before the kidnappings, things she still wanted to do.

That's why, once the morning meal is finished up, and everyone is preparing to head out for the day, Cassandra just so gently taps Anna on the shoulder at the door.]

Hey. Got a minute?

[The fog was kind to Anna, too, but not quite as kind. Her heartbeat is solidly back in her chest where it belongs, and her toes are slowly growing back, along with her close-cropped haircut. But her eye...that's taking a while longer. She supposes it's kind of a complicated thing to grow, but she's really missing having her full vision. Especially with Christmas coming up; it'd be nice to be able to see all the lights and decorations in their full glory. Not to mention the eyepatch is getting old real quick.

She's bundled up in her coat and boots, ready to head out for the day, but the tap on her shoulder startles her out of her thoughts about the peppermint bark she's planning to make. Anna turns, and gives Cass a grin that's much closer to genuine than it's been recently.]

Of course! What's up?

[ There's a small package for Anna outside the bakery! Addressed from Majima, it contains a pair of soft, fuzzy mittens. ]

[When Anna comes into work the day after Christmas, she's delighted to find the gift from Majima waiting outside. She immediately fires off a message:]

[And the next day, he'll find a package outside his own door: a solid pound of fudge. Maple, salted caramel, and mint-chocolate, to be exact. There's a note attached here, which says simply:

A Mystery Package

[On the 26th, a ~*mysterious bouquet*~ of very standard funeral flowers with a Sympathy mylar balloon shows up at the Café and Apothecary. In quill-script, an unsigned card reads,]

I am sorry for your losses. May you find rest with vengeance.

[And beside the off-the-shelf funeral lily bouquet is... a very familiar pot with a glowing fungus, and a second note written with the same quill-script.]

Circumstances have changed, and I do not possess the thumb required to keep this 'friend' alive. I have full confidence that it shall thrive better with you than with me.

["Rest with vengeance." Anna wishes it were so. She wishes that she felt any better for having murdered that tree. But now the rage is spent and she just feels empty.

She...might have been drinking a little, if only because that's what people do in stories when they're consumed with grief.

Still, the bouquet and the return of her little foxfire friend...it's something. Company. She places both on her bedside table, and pulls her laptop toward her.]

[The sudden and intense shift in the daily life of the monster population has stretched as far as Solsikke. Time tables were changed, chores had to be rearranged. Being one of the two denizens of Solsikke that couldn't venture outside in the daytime was already getting to Cass. But it wasn't without some perks.

Just as the sun sank behind the hills, and the night starts came out, a knock comes to Anna's door. Hopefully not just as she's preparing for bed. Because Cassandra is there, fully dressed, wings folded neatly against her back.]

Have a long day?

[Luckily for Cass, Anna has transformed into a crepuscular monster, which means dusk and dawn are the best times of the day to find her and not suffer the risk of her deciding that Right Now is Naptime. So when the door to Anna's room flings wide, she's fully dressed in shorts and a tank top, ears tilted forward in excitement.]

Hmm? Oh, kind of. I did a lot of running...hunted a couple of rabbits...took a nap in the woods, that was fun! And then I came back here and took another nap, and then I lost about an hour chasing a piece of ribbon around the kitchen, and then I took another nap. And now I'm here!

6/21; Action

[Well, half the castle had been forced to live through their dreams, and the dreams of others, and upon waking up had to learn that their lizard friends returned to live with their titanic mother that sprouted out of the earth to rampage and cause havoc. It's been a long week.

Some took it harder than others. And Cass knew Anna was feeling the sting of losing a pet she cared about... even if it was a monster spawn that inflated her hand to a painful size.

Cass also knew it was Anna's birthday. (She wrote it down in her calendar after last year, to be sure). Some quick preparations over the next few days, and she found herself, once more, outside the queen's room.

She knocks with her foot, due to the box nestled in her arms.]

Anna? You up?

[Too bad one of them's still working on nocturnal hours.]

[It's Anna's birthday, and all in all she's had a pleasant day, especially given the fact that she's sad about her father and her sister, she's turning back into a nymph, and her pet lizard ran away while they were gone. But hey, cake and ice cream!

(Anna's having kind of a crappy birthday.)

In all honesty, she's about to give up on the book she's been flipping through for the past hour when someone knocks at her door. Anna recognizes the voice and the corner of her mouth lifts despite herself.]

[So uh. Today was something, huh? As if the other night wasn't bad enough, with Javert showing up on their doorstep and revealing what had happened to Varian, the way everything just. Exploded on the network... it's left Elsa feeling a bit drained. She doesn't like feeling angry, she doesn't like the bitter burn at the back of her throat as she went back and forth with Javert over the network... she just needed to calm down for a while, and what was the best comfort Elsa had right now?

Her sister, of course. Spending time with Anna always made her feel better. So as things on the network begin to wind down, Anna will hear a knock on her bedroom door, a familiar tap ta-tap tap tap echoing against the wood.]

Anna? Can I come in?

[It makes her feel a little bit guilty, the way she's been hiding from everything going on. She's a queen, she should be trying to fix this. She should be helping keep the peace, not...hiding in her bedroom. But it's all so stressful, considering the who and what of the situation, and she's worried about Varian, and Elsa and Cass are both mired in conflict...Everything happening just seems a hundred times scarier and more dangerous than what she's dealt with back home.

It's easier to just stay in here with Nisser and try to keep herself distracted.

Which means that when Elsa knocks, Anna jumps guiltily, sending the kitten jumping out of her arms with a reproachful, scratchy meow. She clears her throat, instinctively patting down her leafy hair as if she's got a cowlick.]

Yeah! Of course, come in!

To Korra: This one is delivered in-person: A simple necklace consisting of a leather cord strung with a single, shimmering green dragon scale. The cord is long enough to be able to wear as either a necklace or a wrap bracelet. Accompanying this is a small, potted sweet sarsaparilla plant (Smilax glyciphylla).

To Elsa: A cloth-wrapped bundle of three homemade bath bombs, each with a different scent: lavender, coconut, and vanilla-amber. In addition, Anna has included a silk pillowcase with little hand-embroidered crocus flowers along the edge of the opening. The note attached reads simply: Sweet dreams for my sweet sister ♡ -A

To Cassandra: A pair of super-soft, supple black leather gloves, fingerless to let Cass’s claws go unimpeded. Hand-embroidered with an ornate C on each wrist. Included with the gloves is a red silk cravat and an antique ebony brooch, just because Anna thinks they’ll look great with Cass’s vampire look.


To Maya: A big basket full of a dozen jumbo muffins. Each one is individually-wrapped and labeled with its flavor: two of each blueberry, double chocolate chip, lemon poppyseed, honey vanilla bergamot, cherry almond, and cranberry orange.
